Becoming a parent can be difficult in itself, but then trying to get back into your regular life is a whole other struggle.
And two women realised that finding a childminder that you trust can be pretty impossible.
Sinead Asple is the mother of three young children and realised that it can be frustrating and daunting to find the perfect childminder.
A creché just wasn’t an option for her and she realised that there were hundreds of other women in the same position. When her childminder let her down once again, she decided to do something about it.
Along with her friend Paula Reilly, the pair came up with the idea of SureSitter, a platform that supports and connects families with trusted local childminders.
So how do they do this? Well, it’s basically by word of mouth…online…
It builds parents social networks and connecting them with childcarers that have been recommended by friends.
Both Sinead and Paula quit their jobs last year to focus full time on the website.
Sinead explains:
“I know from experience how time consuming and stressful it can be trying to find suitable childcare and trying to juggle work and family at the same time,’
‘It’s a problem that I and many of my friends have experienced over the years. We want to change this by enabling parents and childcarers to quickly and easily find each other.”
The platform is free for both childcarers and parents to sign up.
Check out their website here for more information: suresitter.com. SureSitter operates throughout Ireland.
