Safety Tips for Carers and Parents

At SureSitter trust and safety is our top priority. We want to ensure both parents and caregivers feel safe, secure, and informed when using our platform. We are not a nanny agency and we do not vet every caregiver. Instead we provide users with the tools to enable them to self-vet caregivers and families to ensure the right match is made.

Safety tips for carers:

Here are some tips to help make sure that your job search is both safe and productive.

  • Communicate with parents using the monitored messaging system on SureSitter. This protects your privacy and allows us to monitor all electronic exchanges for suspect activity.
  • Once you have exchanged messages and feel comfortable the next step is to arrange an in-person interview with the parents before accepting any job.
  • Always arrange to meet prospective employers in a public space during daylight hours.
  • Some parents may suggest meeting at their house for an interview. We recommend avoiding this when meeting parents for the first time.
  • Ask them to provide an ID so you can confirm who you are meeting with.
  • Make sure to tell a friend or family member where you are going.

For all of our users:

  • We provide member support 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
  • We have partnered with Stripe to provide ID verification. We verify a person’s identity using their passport or driver’s license. If a user has verified their identity you will see the ID-verified badge below on their profile

  • Report a user. We have a ‘Report Profile’ facility on all profiles, where users can contact us directly if they have any concerns regarding a profile. Reported accounts are investigated immediately and accounts are removed if necessary.
  • SureSitter is approved by the Garda Vetting Bureau to offer and process Garda Vetting to all registered carers. Click here to avail of our garda vetting.
